Fishing & Boating
Lake Temagami is a long and fingered glacial lake surrounded mainly by crown land. It stretches about 5km from east to west and 60km from north to south. TEMAGAMI means “deep water” in the local Anishinabbe language.
The lake is extremely deep (120m) and Lake Trout, Whitefish, Yellow Pickeral (Walleye), Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike are abundant! With so much water to fish (and so little time to do it) there are a number of maps available at the office and around town to assist you.
Boaters also enjoy the lake and will be pleasantly surprised at the variety of boating opportunities that Lake Temagami offers. Temagami Shores is equipped with a boat launch and several docks with canoes available at no extra charge for our guests. Rentals of houseboats and smaller motorized craft are also available locally at reasonable rates.
